FAQ
1. Where is Satara Farms located?
Satara Farms is located in the beautiful countryside of Gregors Creek, Queensland. We proudly raise Angus cattle with a focus on animal welfare, quality beef and sustainable farming practices.
2. What beef packages do you offer?
We offer two bulk beef options:
1/4 Beast — Quarter Beef Box
1/2 Beast — Half Beef Box
Both options provide a mixed selection of beef cuts from across the animal.
3. How much does your beef cost?
Our premium Angus mixed beef boxes are priced at $22 per kilogram.
This includes a variety of cuts, from premium steaks and roasts to mince, sausages, patties, slow-cooking cuts and beef tallow.
4. What cuts of beef will I receive?
Our mixed boxes are designed to make the most of the whole beast. Your selection may include:
Rump, sirloin and rib fillet steaks
Chuck and other slow-cooking cuts
Beef roasts
Brisket
Beef ribs
Beef mince
Beef sausages
Beef burger patties
Diced beef
Beef tallow
The quantity of each cut will vary depending on the size of the animal and how it is butchered.
5. Can I choose which cuts I receive?
Our quarter and half beast boxes are sold as mixed packs to ensure customers receive a balanced selection of cuts from across the animal.
If you have particular cutting preferences, please discuss these with us before ordering. We will advise what may be possible.
6. How much beef will I receive in a quarter beast?
A quarter beast will generally provide approximately 45–70 kg of packaged beef, depending on the size of the animal, the bone-in cuts selected and butchering specifications.
7. How much beef will I receive in a half beast?
A half beast will generally provide approximately 90–140 kg of packaged beef, depending on the animal and cutting specifications.
8. How much will my beef box cost?
At $22 per kilogram, the estimated costs based on packaged weight are:
Package
Estimated weight
Estimated cost
1/4 Beast
45–70 kg
$990–$1,540
1/2 Beast
90–140 kg
$1,980–$3,080
Final pricing depends on the actual weight and whether pricing is based on packaged or hanging weight. These estimates assume packaged-weight pricing.
9. Is your beef grass-fed?
Our Angus cattle are raised on pasture in Gregors Creek.
Depending on our finishing practices, cattle may be grass-finished or receive grain during the finishing stage. The feeding method applicable to each order will be confirmed before purchase.
10. What is the difference between grass-finished and grain-finished beef?
Grass-finished cattle remain on a grass and forage-based diet through finishing. This beef often has a distinctive flavour and can be leaner.
Grain-finished cattle spend their early lives grazing, then receive a grain-based diet during the finishing stage. This can encourage additional marbling and tenderness.
Both methods can produce excellent-quality Angus beef.
11. What is beef tallow, and why is it included?
Beef tallow is rendered beef fat, traditionally used for cooking.
It is excellent for roasting potatoes, frying, searing meat and other high-heat cooking applications.
At Satara Farms, we believe in respecting the animal and making use of as much as possible, which is why tallow forms part of our whole-beast offering.
12. Is the beef packaged and ready for freezing?
Our aim is to supply beef professionally butchered, portioned and packed into convenient family-sized packages, ready for refrigeration or freezing.
13. How much freezer space will I need?
As a general guide, allow approximately 1 litre of usable freezer space per kilogram of packaged beef, with additional room for airflow and easy access.
A quarter beast will typically require a substantial chest freezer or equivalent freezer space, while a half beast is best suited to a larger dedicated freezer.
14. How long will the beef last in the freezer?
For best eating quality, most frozen beef cuts are ideally used within 6–12 months when correctly packaged and stored at -18°C or colder. Mince and sausages are generally best used sooner, within approximately 3–4 months.
15. Why buy a quarter or half beast instead of individual cuts?
Buying in bulk offers several benefits:
One consistent price per kilogram across a mixed selection
A variety of premium and everyday beef cuts
Convenient freezer storage and meal planning
Direct support for local Australian farming
A whole-beast approach that reduces unnecessary waste
Confidence in knowing where your beef comes from
16. Will every beef box contain exactly the same cuts?
No. Every animal is different, and the weight and number of cuts will vary.
We aim to provide a balanced selection of premium steaks, roasts, slow-cooking cuts, mince, sausages, patties and tallow.
17. How do I order?
